Many people think of getting their protein by having a hunk of chicken or meat at suppertime, but it’s important to eat protein throughout the entire day. This does not mean you need to eat steak for breakfast; there is protein in many foods besides meat and poultry. One cup for milk, for example has about 7 grams of protein, even your toast has protein; a slice of whole wheat bread contains about 4 grams of protein. Protein is so important because it makes up every cell of our bodies and is essential for building muscle and maintaining a healthy immune system. 

Protein is also a great nutrient because it can assist with weight loss and weight management. Protein is known to increase satiety so including it at meal and snack times can make you feel fuller longer.
