As Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right. This expression is a great way to think about the
power of intention. If you approach a new situation with the belief that you are going to fail, most likely, you will. Whether consciously or not, you will not commit your full resources and energy toward completing this goal. This makes sense, why throw your full efforts into what you perceive as an exercise in futility?
Fortunately this works the other way too. If there is something, a goal, outcome or emotion you really want and have the desire and conviction that you will make it, your chances of succeeding are a lot greater. If you think that you will succeed and will stop at nothing to get what you want you will dedicate more energy to accomplishing this goal. It makes sense.
We can use this very powerful brain capacity to structure our outcomes to be in line with what we really want. This can be on a very small scale like making sure you walk at least 30 minutes today, to the large scale like being a home owner, the key is making sure that the goal you are driving towards one of your own desires and not the ideals of someone else superimposed on your life.
