Autumn and winter are a great time of year to slow down and reflect. It is at harvest season, and a season of thanksgiving, a time to be grateful and express gratitude. Nature provides a range of autumnal color, which makes us pause, even on the busiest of days, and winter provides a certain calm and stillness, a time of reflection and to set new goals.

Soothing comfort food warms our bodies, and takes the brisk edge off winter. It is the perfect time of year to slow down and enjoy some time in the kitchen, discovering new recipes and cuisines, and explore the wide range of produce and root vegetables that many of us are unfamiliar with. It is the season to expand culinary horizons, and savor old favorites like soups, stews, and gratins. New seasons provide a whole new of flavors and ingredients. The colors are a little different and more muted, but with a few culinary tips, you will be embracing the season and seasonal produce.
