Where does food come from? The short answer is that it used to come from farms, and thanks to the locavore movement and increased popularity of farmers’ markets, more and more real food is coming from farms.

Despite this locavore movement, farms are going of business at record rates, and corporate agricultural profits are on the increase. We have a public health crisis in the United States: obesity (including childhood obesity), malnutrition and disease (cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc.) are all rampant. As a nation, we eat too much of everything; especially meat.

Where does our food come from? Most “food” is a commodity produced and engineered by multinational corporations and factory farms, and it is most likely from another continent. Your “food” is probably irradiated, genetically modified and/or treated with chemicals. It is becoming more and more likely that you might not be able to call it food.
