We all know that what we eat can kill us. That cheeseburger could be adding another layer to your atherosclerosis, and that salty pretzel isn’t helping your blood pressure. But there is a more immediate risk to your health caused by food- food poisoning. Food poisoning can be caused by either germs (bacteria, virus or parasite) or from the toxins produced by these germs. Regardless of the source, food poisoning can be dangerous business.

Symptoms of food poisoning include,
• Abdominal cramps
• Diarrhea (may be bloody)
• Fever and chills
• Headache
• Nausea and vomiting
• Weakness (may be serious and lead to respiratory arrest, as in the case of botulism)

Not very appetizing. Fortunately there is one simple thing you can do to ensure that you and your family are safe; follow food safely precautions. Following food safety precautions means that the food you eat has been procured, stored and cooked according to certain guidelines. Treat all food is if it is contaminated cook it accordingly.
