Dance Dance Revolution™
Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution ™ did exactly as its name says—it sparked a revolution in the exergaming industry with an infusion of fun and originality. In this game, players stand on a dance platform and hit colored arrows with their feet to musical and visual cues. Players are judged by how well they synchronize their dance moves to the cues on the screen.
Dance Dance Revolution™ can be a great form of aerobic exercise! The system can be calibrated to different levels of intensity to safely up your heart rate. In fact, many schools now use Dance Dance Revolution™ as part of gym class. Not only does the game improve cardiovascular fitness, it also improves coordination and agility by requiring players to sync body movements with cues on a screen.
The game also helps you track potential weight loss; many versions of the game can estimate caloric expenditure after you create an account enter your height and weight. Be sure to check out the “Workout Mode” to create a diary of calories burned day after day and any self-reported changes in weight. So get going—lace up those dancing shoes and hit the dance floor!
